Hey fish lovers one more recipe for you all.Dahi Maccha can be prepared with any fish but it goes very well Hilsa. This recipe I came to know from very dear friend and neighbour. Thanks to her for sharing her recipe with me.
Dahi Machha is a traditional Odiya delicacy made of raw fish in a spicy yogurt based sauce. It is eaten usually served with rice as an accompaniment. Dahi Machha Jhola is liberally seasoned with turmeric, onions, garlic, mustard and garam masala. The use of turmeric imparts a yellow colour to the sauce base. Before being served, chopped fresh cilantro may be sprinkled on top for added flavour as well as enhanced appearance.
The kinds of fish that typically used in Oriya households are Hilsa (called Ilisi), Rohu (called Rohi), and Catla (called Bhakura). Apart from these, there are some very famous small sized fish that are normally favoured over others.
I have came with my Version of dahi machha with Rohu/rui or roho labeo (Labeo rohita)Fish...Delicious,Easy, simple and hassle free version.Hope you all will like it.

Servings :4 persons

INGREDIENTS:
Rohu fish in curry cut(8 piecies)
Fresh yogurt/curd/dahi-2cup(should whisk it nicely)
Mustard 1tsp
1 tbsp of turmeric
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp Mustard oil
Green chilly 2Nos(slit)
Curry leaves(handfull-15 leaves)
Coriander leaves(finely chopped 2 tbsp)
water 1 cup
For Masala:
Khas-khas/posto/Poppy seeds 1/4 cup
Mustard-4 tbsp  
Green chilly-4( adjust according to your requirement )
Garlic(8 pods)
Preparation of Masala:
Place all Khas-khas/posto/Poppy seeds and mustard in mixie jar give 2 paulse, as it help in grinding.
Then add green chilli, garlic pods and little water into the jar and grind to fine paste.

Procedure:
  1. Clean the fish properly with running water and keep it aside.
  2. Now place a open and heavy bottom frying pan and add oil to it
  3. Once oil is heated add curry leaves, green chillies and then mustard and saute till it the mustard splutters
  4. Now add raw fish to it
  5. Now add the masala to it
  6. Immediately add whisked curd/yoghurt to it(gas should be medium to high).
  7. Now add turmeric,salt and water
  8. Now cook both sides till fish is tender and soft( cook one side for 10 minutes) 
  9. And then flip it to other side and let it cook properly(10 minutes)
  10. Garnish it with coriander leaves
  11.  Consistency of sauce should be thick or as per your requirements
  12. Serve hot with rice.
