Red Lentils Pokoda/Masoor dali Pokoda/Pokodi
The word pakoṛā is derived from Sanskrit पक्ववट pakvavaṭa, a compound of pakva ('cooked') and vaṭa ('a small lump') or its derivative vaṭaka, 'a round cake made of pulse fried in ghee or vegetable oil.
The red lentils or the Masoor Dal are in great demand in an Indian kitchen as it forms one of the staple diets that is consumed on a daily basis. These small red-colored lentils are packed with immense health benefits.
The red lentils are associated for reducing the risk of cancer. The anti-cancer properties of the Masoor Dal are due to the high content of fiber and folate in its composition. When the red lentils are consumed on a daily basis, this can reduce the risk of several types of cancer including breast, colon, lung and bowel cancer.
The Masoor Dal has a low glycemic index that makes it an effective food item for those suffering from diabetes. In addition to this, the red lentils are also loaded with fiber that is not digested easily. Therefore, it prevents the sudden spikes in the blood sugar level and thus balances the medical condition of the diabetic patients.
I have came with my Version of Red Lentils Pokoda/Masoor dali Pokoda/Pokodi.Delicious,Easy, simple version.Hope you all will like it.

Ingredients

  • Massor dal/Red Lentil- 1 cup
  •  Onion (1/4 cup Finely chopped)
  •  Green Chilli (2 Nos Finely chopped )
  • Coriander Powder 1tsp 
  • Cumin Powder 1tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder 1tsp
  •  Red chilli powde r1/2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • oil for deep fry(2 cup)
Procedure:
  •  Soak Masoor dal/red lentil for 20 minutes
  • Mean time Place a heavy bottom pan or kadhai put the oil and let the oil for heating.
  • Place soaked masoor dal/red lentil, criander powder,cumin powder,garam masala into mixie jar and put little water and  grind to paste(batter should be like thick not runny).
  • Now pour the pasate in mixing bowl 
  • Now add  chopped onion, green chilli and salt and give a good mix.
  • Now check the oil is heat
  • Now drop the batter in very small shapes 
  • Fry till the pokoda turns golden brown and srispy(don't burn it).
  • Repeat the step with rest of batter.
  • Serve hot with your favourite chutney.
