Masoor dal/red lentil dal pokoda alo/potato curry

I have already discussed the goodness of massor dal/red lentil in my prvious recipes of massor dal. Today I have came with recipe Masoor dal pokoda's curry is a vegetarian dish made from masoor dal/red lentil . Dumplings made from masoor dal and dry spices are steamed and cooked with some Indian spices and flavored masala paste. This recipe was shared by my neghibour.
I have came with my Version of masoor dal pokodi tarkari/red lentil dumpling curry..Delicious,Easy, simple version.Hope you all will like it.

INGREDIENTS
Masoor dal pokodi( 1cup)
Potatoes(2 Medium size) chopped in cubes(optional)
1 Medium Tomato (fine slice)
1 bay leaf
1 inch cinnamon (crushed)
2 cardamom (crushed)
Mustard oil(7-8)tbsp
1 tbsp Kashmir chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp sugar
Garam Masala(1 tsp)Salt to taste
1tbsp freshly chopped coriander leaves
11/2 cup Water
For Masala( Grind to paste)
4 Medium onions(roughly chopped)
Garlic 10 pods
Ginger 1inch (roughly chopped)
1 Green chilli
1 small Bay Leaf
Procedure:
- Prepare pokod's (please click on link for the recipe of pokoda http://www.lukitchen.com/2017/11/red-lentils-pokodamasoor-dali.html
- Now soak pokoda's in water for 5 mins
- Place a heavy bottom pan or kadhai put the oil and once the oil is heated, add the sugar
- Let the sugar to caramelized (don't burn it) ,add crushed cinamon, cradmom and bay leaf, saute it for a minute
- Now add in tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes turn little mushy.
- Now add the garam masala ,turmeric and chilli powder,saute it for a few seconds
- Time for masala to go in, saute it till it roasted and cooked( all raw smell of masala goes off and oil start coming from sides)
- Now add fried potatoes or you and raw potatoes after adding masala
- Now add water and bring this whole thing to a good boil, cover and simmer till oil floats on top.
- Add pokodas it and keep it in shimmer for 5 minutes.
- garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with rice or chapatis( Indian breads).
